Did I waste four months on TJR?
I started watching the TJR bootcamp videos from 2023 and managed to complete them all in just one month. I diligently did all the homework and revisited many of the videos two or three times. I’ve grasped the strategy and risk management concepts, and for the past three months, I’ve dedicated about an hour each day to backtesting. I’ve also been doing some forward testing and live trading with a small account, diligently journaling each trade.
However, I’m feeling frustrated because my win rate is under 50%, and I appear to be losing more trades than I’m winning. It seems like this strategy isn’t working for me.
What should I do next? Should I stick with the TJR strategy? Would it be beneficial to check out his newer content or explore TJR’s other strategies? Should I consider the ICT mentorship or learn from other SMC traders? I feel stuck and confused, and I’m unsure who to trust since so many people on YouTube are trying to sell their courses.

It’s understandable to feel frustrated after investing so much time and effort without seeing the results you hoped for. Here are a few thoughts that might help you move forward:
Evaluate Your Approach: Sometimes, consistent losses can be attributed to factors like execution errors, poor risk management, or emotional decision-making, even if you understand the strategy. Review your trades to identify any patterns or mistakes.
Stick with TJR: Before jumping ship, consider giving yourself a bit more time with the TJR strategy. Sometimes, it takes longer to get the hang of a system, and tweaking your execution while still sticking to the core principles could yield better results.
Seek Guidance: If possible, engage with like-minded traders or a mentor who can provide constructive feedback on your trades. Sometimes, a fresh set of eyes can identify areas for improvement.
Diversify Your Learning: It can be beneficial to broaden your knowledge base by exploring other traders’ strategies like those of ICT or other SMC traders. This doesn’t mean abandoning TJR but rather complementing your skill set. Make sure you understand each strategy thoroughly before transitioning.
Be Critical of Sources: You’re right to be cautious about where you seek knowledge. Look for traders with a proven track record, transparency, and a community where you can share experiences and learn. Avoid those who focus too much on selling courses without offering genuine value.
Take a Break if Needed: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, consider taking a short break. A fresh perspective can sometimes make a huge difference in your trading mindset.
Remember, trading is a journey, and progress often comes with ups and downs. Stay patient, keep learning, and focus on improving your skills. You haven’t wasted your time—you’re building a foundation that can be valuable in the long run.
